The Power of Love

"There is a Law that man should love his neighbor as himself. In a few hundred years it should be as natural to mankind as breathing or the upright gait; but if he does not learn it he must perish."
-- Alfred Adler

Love is the way we show peace,
   Love sets us free.
Love is the bond that joins us
   to our community.
Love is the answer
   that we've been searching for.
It lives inside all of us,
   just open up the door,
And Love to find Peace...
-- Robert Alan

Love is the truth that sets us free...
-- Robert Alan

Hate is not conquered by hate: hate is conquered by love. This is a law eternal.
-- Buddha

Love -- giving and receiving from the heart -- involves ... peace ...
-- Richard Carlson

If you would be loved, love and be lovable.
-- Benjamin Franklin

“In the harshest place on Earth, ... love finds a way.”
-- Morgan Freeman

Can one have love? If we could, love would need to be a thing, a substance that one can have, own, possess. The truth is, there is no such thing as "love." "Love" is an abstraction, perhaps a goddess or an alien being, although nobody has ever seen this goddess. In reality, there exists only the act of loving. To love is a productive activity. It implies caring for, knowing, responding, affirming, enjoying: the person, the tree, the painting, the idea. It means bringing to life, increasing his/her/its aliveness. It is a process, self-renewing and self increasing.
-- Erich Fromm

The entire law is summed up in a single command, "Love your neighbor as yourself."
-- Galatians 5:14

"Whether humanity will consciously follow the law of love, I do not know. But that need not disturb me. The law will work just as the law of gravitation works, whether we accept it or not. The person who discovered the law of love was a far greater scientist than any of our modern scientists. Only our explorations have not gone far enough and so it is not possible for everyone to see all its workings."
-- Mahatma Gandhi

"Love grows by service."
-- Charlotte Perkins Gilman

We look forward to the time when the Power of Love will replace the Love of Power. Then will our world know the blessings of peace. William Gladstone (1809-1898)

When the power of love overcomes the love of power, then there will be true peace.
-- Sri Chin Moi Gosh
