World Food Programme Celebrity Partner

Rachel Weisz is a popular British actress who won an Academy Award for her role in The Constant Gardener; but this isn't the only way that the film changed her life. During the shooting of the film in the slums of Kenya, Rachel Weisz saw firsthand the lifesaving work the United Nations World Food Programme was doing to provide food to women and children on the verge of starvation. She agreed to appear in a special trailer about ending world hunger that was shown in 20 countries with the film when it was released in 2005. In May, 2007 she filmed a special Mother's Day appeal for the World Food Programme, reminding us that many mothers and their children around the world live under the shadow of poverty and hunger. Rachel Weisz is also one of the founding patrons of the Constant Gardener Trust which is working to help lift people out of poverty in the places where the movie was filmed.
