Heroes for a Culture of Peace

Kevin Bacon
(1958-)

birthdate: July 8
birthplace:
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Kevin Bacon is Golden Globe-nominated American film and theater actor, and musician who captured the public and critics' attention as part of the ensemble cast of the movie, Diner, before establishing his career with the 1984 box-office smash, Footloose. Since then he has had a prolific career, starring in numerous roles on screen and on the stage; so much so that he became the subject of a popular trivia game called Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, in which any two actors can be linked in a series of six associations or less. In 2007, Kevin Bacon decided to put the six degrees idea to use for a better world. He created SixDegrees.org, a social networking website that helps link people to charities. Many celebrities have joined in the venture, helping to raise funds for their favorite charities through his website.
