1000 Peace Women

The Nobel Peace Prize has been awarded annually since 1901, but only 12 women have received this prestitious award. In 2005, 1000 women peacebuilders' names from 150 countries were nominated as part of the 1000 Women For The Noble Peace Prize Project. Although the project did not receive the Nobel Prize that year, it succeeded in creating a campaign to help make women's peacebuilding efforts around the world more recognized and supported.
