World Maritime Day

World Maritime Day is celebrated every year to focus attention on the importance of shipping safety and the marine environment, and to draw attention to an aspect of the work of the United Nations International Maritime Organisation. While the Day is usually observed in the last week of September, the exact date is left to individual governments.
