3. The Culture of Peace Movement

We can change the system by helping the world to see that there really is what UNESCO has described as a "global movement for a culture of peace" all around us. It just hasn't been recognized yet by the mainstream.

The Culture of Peace Movement is not just an extension of the Antiwar Movement. It is a "for a culture of peace" movement made up of thousands of movements for a better world, like the environmental movement, civil rights movement, women's movement and human rights movement. United in the realization that "every effort to make this world a better place is part of our wish for a more peaceful, just and sustainable world" we can transform the system.

How do you join the global movement for a culture of peace?

The Culture of Peace Movement is not an organization. All you have to do is decide to make 'building a culture of peace' your goal. Every effort for a better world makes a difference when we work together. Individuals and organizations can network and connect with each other through the Culture of Peace Initiative (www.CultureOfPeace.org), a UN designated Peace Messenger Initiative coordinated by Pathways To Peace.

Together, as part of the global movement for a culture of peace, we are helping to create a more peaceful, just and sustainable world.
