24. Letters for Peace

"It is our duty as men and women to proceed as though the limits of our abilities do not exist."
-- Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

Planning for a Peace Fair provides a perfect opportunity to write Letters to the Editor of your local paper about why peace is important, while tying in the upcoming event.

You can also use this powerful tool all year round by writing letters to the editor about other timely local, national and global events, activities or occurrences, and relating them to a wish for a more peaceful, just and sustainable world.

Writing letters to your elected leaders is also a valuable tool to bring about change. When people work together on letter campaigns to their local, state and federal government representatives, it can make a real difference.

Your Peace Club may also decide to sponsor a contest in a local school to invite students to write to the Mayor, Governor or President. Letters from children can get even more attention, and it can be an empowering experience for young people to know that their voices can be heard.
