Peace rallies, protests and boycotts have traditionally
been the primary way that people have tried to show the
world that peace is important to us. They will continue
to be an important tool. But we can also help unite our
communities and inspire them to become excited about the
goal of building a culture of peace by celebrating together.
There are many days of celebration for a more peaceful,
just and sustainable world recognized around the globe
- such as Peace Day (The International Day of Peace) on
September 21, One Day In Peace on January 1, End Racism
Day on March 21 and End Hunger Day on October 16. Each
'Culture of Peace Day' highlights a particular issue that
is a peace of the culture of peace puzzle - a pathway
to peace. If we work together, we can make these 'Culture
of Peace Days' into major events. These events become
opportunities to raise awareness about our wish for peace
on earth. Peace Clubs can help our communities by working
with local charities to sponsor Peace Fairs and Festivals
and Concerts on Culture of Peace Days.
By celebrating Culture of Peace Days we will unite
the many diverse movements for a better world into a coordinated
Culture of Peace Movement.
