 Emily
Rachel Silverstein (1989-2009) | On
April 9, 2009 our beautiful daughter, Emily Rachel Silverstein was tragically
and violently taken from us. During
her all too brief life, Emily's compassion, passion and creativity touched many
lives. From an early age she was guided by a vision of a better world that drove
her to become involved in many different causes. By the age of 10, she chose to
become a vegetarian, marched in peace marches and passionately advocated for recycling
and protecting the environment. Over the next 10 years she became actively engaged
in many different issues -- women's rights, human rights, social justice, environmental
sustainability, and ending homelessness. She accomplished many amazing things,
but there are so many more lives that she would have touched. The
Emily Silverstein Fund was set up to continue Emily's legacy of hope in action
for a more peaceful, just and sustainable world. We hope that her passion will
inspire you to have hope that a better world is possible, and know that every
act of compassion makes a difference. Thank
you all for your generous contributions which are allowing us to launch this
fund for Emily. We will be sending personal acknowledgments soon.
